Ansys Inc. is a publicly traded American company headquartered in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. The company specializes in developing and marketing engineering simulation software. Ansys software is widely used for designing products and semiconductors, as well as for running simulations to assess a product’s durability, temperature distribution, fluid dynamics, and electromagnetic properties.
Founded in 1970 by John Swanson, Ansys saw significant changes over the years. In 1993, Swanson sold his stake in the company to venture capitalists, and in 1996, Ansys went public on NASDAQ. During the 2000s, Ansys expanded through a series of acquisitions, adding new technologies for fluid dynamics, electronics design, and various physics-based analyses to its portfolio.
