Strategy is preparing for a leadership change in its finance department as CFO Andrew Kang resigns, with the announcement coming alongside record quarterly operating income of roughly $21 billion and bitcoin reserves reaching 848,517 BTC.
The company, the largest publicly listed corporate bitcoin holder, disclosed in a Thursday filing that Kang will leave his CFO role on Nov. 5.
Kang notified the company on Oct. 26 that he intended to resign for personal reasons. Strategy said his departure was “not the result of any disagreement” concerning its operations, policies or practices.
He will remain available to the company as an adviser through Dec. 31 to support the transition.
Reza Virasteh, currently Strategy’s executive vice president of operations, will assume the CFO position on Jan. 1. He will become co-principal financial officer alongside President and CEO Phong Le, who will supervise the finance organization during the handover.
The company will distribute financial oversight between the two executives. Le will retain responsibility for bitcoin strategy, capital markets, treasury and investor relations, while Virasteh will concentrate on financial management and budgeting for Strategy’s software operations.
The executive transition follows a strong financial quarter. Strategy recorded approximately $21 billion in operating income for the third quarter and said it had secured $21 billion in capital since the start of the year.
Its bitcoin holdings reached 848,517 BTC as of Oct. 25, marking a 26% increase from the beginning of 2026.
Despite the record operating result, market sentiment remained weak. MSTR shares fell 6.4% in Friday’s premarket session, while bitcoin declined 3.3% over 24 hours. Strategy’s STRC preferred stock was unchanged at $99.45.
