XRP Funding Stays Positive as Price Structure Remains Fragile

XRP remained below $1.49 after three consecutive daily losses pushed the token beneath the $1.50 support level. A small recovery from the session low offered some relief, but selling pressure remains evident. CoinGlass data showed a long-to-short ratio of 0.975, with shorts slightly outnumbering longs, while the funding rate remained positive at 0.008%.

A positive funding rate means traders holding long perpetual futures positions are paying those on the short side. While that can indicate continued demand for bullish exposure, XRP’s spot market has yet to reflect that optimism. The divergence between futures positioning and spot selling could become increasingly important if the token remains below $1.50.

The 0.975 long-to-short ratio does not indicate a heavily bearish market by itself. With the figure close to 1.0, positioning remains broadly balanced, suggesting neither longs nor shorts have established a dominant advantage.

Funding offers a somewhat different signal. The positive rate shows that traders are still willing to pay for long exposure, generally reflecting expectations of higher prices. However, leveraged longs can become a source of additional selling if XRP moves lower and positions begin to face liquidation.

That risk is particularly relevant given CryptoQuant data showing elevated conditions in XRP’s spot and futures markets. Futures activity has also displayed sell-side dominance, suggesting sellers continue to control derivatives activity even while funding remains positive.

The result is a market where bullish positioning has not yet translated into sufficient spot demand. Without stronger buying volume, positive funding alone may not be enough to push XRP through nearby resistance.

XRP Technical Levels Remain Key

XRP’s daily chart continues to show a relatively constructive longer-term structure. During the latest three-day decline, the token remained above the 50-day EMA near $1.365 and the 200-day EMA around $1.369. The 100-day EMA is lower at approximately $1.307 and serves as another support reference.

Momentum has weakened, but the technical indicators have not confirmed a full trend reversal. RSI is around 55, close to neutral, while MACD has flattened near zero. The combination points more toward consolidation following the previous advance than a confirmed breakdown.

The $1.37 area is the most important support zone because the 50-day and 200-day EMAs are clustered around that level. A decisive move below it could expose XRP to $1.30. If selling intensifies further, the psychological $1.00 level could eventually come into view, although it remains well below the current price.

On the upside, $1.574 is the key resistance to watch. A sustained reclaim of that level would strengthen the technical structure and potentially open the way toward $1.90.

XRP Price Outlook

The near-term setup depends largely on whether XRP can defend $1.37. Holding that zone would leave the token in a consolidation phase, while positive funding would continue to indicate demand for long exposure. However, a sustained breakout would likely require confirmation from open interest and spot trading volume rather than funding alone.

A move above $1.574 would strengthen the bullish case for a potential advance toward $1.90 and could force short sellers to cover as momentum improves.

On the downside, a sustained break below $1.37 would shift attention to $1.30 as the next support level. The $1.00 area would become relevant only if XRP breaks through those intermediate levels and the broader market weakness deepens.

For now, XRP’s near-balanced positioning, positive funding and continued futures selling create a mixed market structure. The next decisive move in spot price should provide a clearer indication of whether buyers or sellers are gaining control.
