Ripple has teamed up with Unicâmbio, a Portuguese currency exchange provider, to facilitate instant international payments between Portugal and Brazil, leveraging Ripple’s payments platform. This partnership marks Ripple’s entry into the Portuguese market, aiming to enhance cross-border transactions with digital assets for faster and more affordable settlements.
Unicâmbio’s corporate clients can now transfer funds and settle payments within minutes using Ripple’s technology. Cassie Craddock, Ripple’s Managing Director for the UK & Europe, expressed enthusiasm about the growing crypto ecosystem in Portugal and the opportunity to introduce Ripple’s payment solutions to the country.
“Our collaboration aims to enhance cross-border payments, making them more efficient and cost-effective, while strengthening the economic ties between Portugal and Brazil,” Craddock said.
Ripple’s payments platform utilizes the XRP Ledger, enabling users to send and receive a variety of currencies, including both fiat and crypto assets, via a network of financial institutions with the help of the XRP token.
