Ripple Teams Up With Chipper Cash to Enhance XRP-Powered Payments in Africa

Ripple Partners With Chipper Cash to Enhance Cross-Border Payments in Africa

Chipper Cash, a leading payments provider with five million customers across nine African countries, has announced a partnership with Ripple to enable faster and more efficient cross-border transactions into the continent.

The collaboration will leverage Ripple Payments, a blockchain-powered solution that utilizes XRP to facilitate low-cost, real-time international payments. By integrating Ripple’s technology, Chipper Cash aims to provide its users with seamless access to global remittances—an area traditionally plagued by high fees and slow processing times.

“Our partnership with Chipper Cash marks a key milestone in the expansion of Ripple’s business in Africa,” said Reece Merrick, Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa at Ripple. “Consumers and businesses across the continent are increasingly recognizing the potential of blockchain technology, and we are excited to bring our crypto-enabled payments solution to our partners in the region.”

This partnership further strengthens Ripple’s presence in Africa, following its 2023 collaboration with Onafriq, a payments network connecting various African markets.

Despite the announcement, XRP prices have fallen 4.5% in the past 24 hours amid a broader market downturn.
