Ondo Finance Launches Platform to Bring Traditional Assets Onchain

Ondo Finance, a prominent issuer of tokenized real-world assets (RWA), has introduced a new platform designed to streamline the transition of traditional financial assets to blockchain technology.

On Tuesday, the company announced the launch of Ondo Global Markets (Ondo GM), a platform aimed at providing onchain access to stocks, bonds, and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). While specific details on the available assets have yet to be disclosed, Ondo—boasting a market capitalization exceeding $600 million—is already the third-largest issuer of tokenized U.S. Treasuries, according to rwa.xyz.

The initiative seeks to address inefficiencies in the current financial system, which Ondo describes as plagued by high fees, limited accessibility, and platform fragmentation that excludes millions from capital markets.

“By leveraging blockchain technology, we can bring institutional-grade financial markets onchain, making them more accessible, transparent, and efficient,” the company stated on X.

Taking inspiration from stablecoin liquidity models, Ondo GM will enable the creation of freely transferable tokens representing traditional assets, with built-in regulatory controls to govern who can access, buy, or sell them.

Ondo Finance is set to host its inaugural summit in New York on Feb. 6, with the company promising major announcements in the days leading up to the event.
