Near Protocol ETF Rekindles Institutional Interest in NEAR

Bitwise Investment Advisers’ Bitwise NEAR Protocol ETF, identified by the ticker NRR, is designed to provide direct exposure to NEAR while allowing the fund to earn additional tokens through staking. The prospectus says the shares are expected to trade on NYSE Arca and details the proposed structure of the product.

NRR’s primary goal is to track the value of the NEAR held by the Trust after expenses and other liabilities are taken into account. Its secondary objective is to generate additional NEAR through staking, combining direct altcoin exposure with a potential on-chain reward component.

Bitwise’s official fund website lists NYSE Arca as the exchange and September 28, 2026, as the fund’s inception date. The SEC prospectus, meanwhile, describes the planned listing and structure using prospective language. As a result, the filing and fund website provide different pieces of information about the product.

NEAR’s role in AI infrastructure and the emerging agentic economy has been highlighted in coverage surrounding the ETF. The fund’s investment structure itself is more straightforward: it holds NEAR and may stake those holdings. Greater interest in AI-related applications could support market attention toward the token, but it does not change NRR’s exposure to NEAR’s price or ensure staking rewards will compensate for losses.

How NRR Handles Custody and Staking

Coinbase Custody Trust Company will hold NRR’s NEAR in segregated accounts and serve as the fund’s custodian. The Trust may stake some or all of its holdings, while staking agents selected by the sponsor will operate the validators associated with those assets.

NRR will determine its net asset value using the CME CF NEAR Protocol, Dollar Reference Rate, New York Variant. The benchmark is calculated using executed trades across major NEAR trading platforms.

The fund charges a unitary management fee of 0.75% per year on its NEAR holdings. Any staking rewards earned by the Trust become part of its assets and may increase the NAV per share. However, staking returns can fluctuate with network reward rates and are not equivalent to a guaranteed fixed yield.

The results of the staking strategy will also depend on validator operations, staking agents and custody arrangements. The quantity of NEAR earned through staking, together with the fund’s fees and other liabilities, will ultimately determine its effect on net asset value.

NRR creates and redeems shares in baskets of 10,000 through authorized participants. This process is intended to keep the shares tied to the amount of NEAR represented by each unit. Market prices can nevertheless trade above or below NAV, meaning investors may experience premiums or discounts when buying or selling the ETF.

Brokerage expenses, the management fee and any premium or discount to NAV can all affect an investor’s final return.

NEAR Price Outlook After ETF Launch

NEAR attracted fresh attention following the September 29 launch of Bitwise’s spot NEAR ETF, NRR. The fund reportedly recorded around $50 million in inflows across its first two trading sessions, strengthening the narrative around renewed institutional interest.

The momentum also extended to South Korea, where traders reportedly generated $40,000 from a long NEAR position during the semifinal round of a trading competition.

On the technical side, the $4.50-$4.65 range remains a key area for buyers. If NEAR can maintain support there and reclaim $5.00, the token could attempt to move toward $5.50, with $6.00 representing the next major psychological level.

A sustained break below $4.50 would weaken the setup and could increase the risk of a decline toward the $4.00 region.

Going forward, the durability of ETF inflows and the extent to which staking demand creates additional buying pressure will be important for NEAR’s outlook.

The protocol’s expanding presence in AI infrastructure and cross-chain activity could provide further support. However, NEAR’s recent gains have also raised expectations, leaving ETF flows, trading volume and broader crypto-market sentiment as key factors to watch for the next significant move.
