Metaplanet Buys 555 BTC, Sells Another $25M in Bonds to EVO FUND

Tokyo-based investment firm Metaplanet (3350) has announced a second $25 million bond sale to EVO FUND, just days after completing a similar debt issuance to the same buyer. The proceeds will be used to increase its Bitcoin (BTC) holdings, according to a company update posted Wednesday on X (formerly Twitter).

The newly issued bonds will carry zero interest and are scheduled for redemption on November 6, Metaplanet said.

In a separate disclosure, the company revealed the purchase of 555 BTC for approximately 7.63 billion yen ($53.5 million). The latest acquisition brings Metaplanet’s total Bitcoin holdings to 5,555 BTC, making it the largest public Bitcoin holder outside North America, according to data from Bitcoin Treasuries.

Following the announcement, Metaplanet’s shares surged 11.5%, closing at 477 yen ($3.33) on Wednesday.
