MARA Holdings, a Bitcoin mining company expanding into AI and high-performance computing, has transferred about 996 BTC valued at $81.13 million to a wallet linked to Galaxy Digital, according to blockchain analytics tracked by Lookonchain.
However, the transaction does not establish that the Bitcoin was sold. Moving coins to an address associated with Galaxy Digital does not, by itself, confirm that the digital asset firm carried out a sale.
MARA has moved beyond its original focus on Bitcoin mining as it develops artificial intelligence and high-performance computing infrastructure. The company has also begun reducing some of its Bitcoin holdings to bolster its financial position and fund its broader business plans.
In March, MARA sold 15,133 BTC for approximately $1.1 billion. The proceeds were primarily used to finance the repurchase of convertible debt.
Data from Bitcoin Treasuries’ historical records shows that MARA, headquartered in Hallandale Beach, Florida, held 53,822 BTC on February 26. Its reserves gradually declined to 35,577 BTC by August 7, reflecting a substantial reduction in its Bitcoin treasury over that period.
The latest transfer comes as the miner continues to adjust its strategy and expand beyond its traditional operations.
MARA shares gained 2% in premarket trading on Friday, reaching approximately $10, while Bitcoin climbed back above $82,000 over the previous 24 hours.
