Crypto Funding Rate Spike Fuels $750M Inflow Into Ethena, Sending ENA Up 20%

Ethena’s ENA Rallies 20% as USDe Inflows Cross $750M Amid Yield Spike

July 21, 2025 — Ethena’s governance token ENA surged 20% on Sunday, reaching $0.50 for the first time since February, as investors poured over $750 million into the protocol amid sharply rising crypto funding rates.

The influx follows a renewed wave of demand for Ethena’s synthetic stablecoin, USDe. Backed by BTC, ETH, and SOL, and hedged with short perpetual futures, USDe earns yield when funding rates turn positive — a dynamic that has accelerated as broader crypto markets rebound.

With funding rates rising across major exchanges, Ethena’s strategy is now delivering nearly 10% in annualized yield — a figure that significantly exceeds returns in traditional markets. According to CoinGlass data, the jump marks a sharp departure from the near-neutral funding environment seen in recent weeks.

The yield spike has driven fresh inflows into USDe, pushing its supply to $6.09 billion — just below the February peak of $6.1 billion, based on data from DeFiLlama and Ethena’s official dashboard.

ENA, which governs protocol operations, rallied in parallel as investor interest returned to the Ethena ecosystem. The token’s breakout signals renewed confidence in the platform’s economic model, which blends stablecoin utility with on-chain yield generation.

As crypto funding conditions continue to improve, Ethena is positioning itself as a key player in the DeFi sector’s return to growth.
