Binance Resolves Technical Glitch, Futures Trading Returns Online

Binance Restores Futures Trading After Technical Glitch

Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, has resumed futures trading after a brief outage linked to a system error in its Unified Margin (UM) product.

“The issue affecting Futures UM trading on Binance has been resolved. All futures trading is now fully operational,” the exchange said Friday on X.

The disruption temporarily prevented traders from closing or adjusting positions, sparking concern in the derivatives market where Binance commands a major share of global volume.

Introduced in 2022, UM enables pooled margin across different contracts and collateral types, meaning outages affect a broader range of trading activity than standard product failures.

Binance futures currently account for more than $40 billion in open interest. Past interruptions, typically triggered during periods of heavy volatility, have lasted anywhere from minutes to several hours.
