ADA Network Reaches 500,000 Supply-Chain Records Milestone

The Cardano Foundation and Brazilian tech company Blockforce have moved their supply-chain verification platform into live production, using Cardano as the public layer for proving the authenticity of enterprise records.

The platform is already being used by major fashion companies in Brazil and has anchored more than 500,000 supply-chain records on the Cardano blockchain.

The technology is designed to solve a key problem for regulated supply chains: how to let external parties verify records without exposing commercially sensitive information. Keeping all data in a private database makes independent verification difficult, while putting the full records on a public blockchain could reveal supplier information, pricing and contractual details.

Blockforce uses a two-layer approach. Detailed supply-chain records remain on a permissioned network accessible only to authorized participants. Cardano stores the corresponding cryptographic proofs, allowing auditors, regulators and customers to verify that a record is authentic and unchanged without accessing the underlying business information.

Cardano Helps Make Enterprise Verification Viable

The cost of recording large numbers of supply-chain events on a public blockchain has historically limited such systems to smaller pilot programs. At enterprise scale, hundreds of thousands of individual records can make direct public anchoring prohibitively expensive.

Blockforce and the Cardano Foundation say their engineering work has lowered the cost of anchoring each record by 92%. The reduction has helped the system move beyond the proof-of-concept stage and into production deployments involving real-world supply-chain volumes.

More than 500,000 records have already been secured through the system.

Technical information published by Blockforce identifies Hyperledger Fabric as the foundation for the permissioned side of the architecture, supported by additional storage components.

The Cardano Foundation’s case study provides further details on the system, including its uVerify component and the batching method used to group certificates before anchoring them in Cardano transactions.

Guilherme Pereira, Ecosystem Growth Specialist for LATAM at the Cardano Foundation, presented the development as an infrastructure milestone, emphasizing the ability to combine public verification with the confidentiality required by enterprise supply chains.
