Strategy Expands Bitcoin Holdings with $765M Purchase, Reaches New Record
Strategy (MSTR) has significantly boosted its bitcoin reserves, acquiring an additional 7,390 BTC for approximately $764.9 million, according to a regulatory filing released Monday. The average price per bitcoin in this latest purchase was $103,498.
With this acquisition, Strategy’s total bitcoin holdings have climbed to a record 576,230 BTC. At the current market price of around $103,000 per coin, the company’s bitcoin stash is now worth close to $59 billion. The firm’s cumulative average purchase price stands at $69,726 per bitcoin.
The purchase was funded through an at-the-market (ATM) equity offering and the issuance of Series A STRK preferred shares. Between May 12 and May 18, Strategy raised $705.7 million via the sale of common stock and issued 621,555 shares of STRK preferred stock as part of the financing strategy.
At the time of writing, Bitcoin is trading near $103,000. Shares of Strategy (MSTR) are down more than 1% in pre-market trading.
