Bitcoin is approaching $81,000 again after gaining nearly 2% as investors return to the market ahead of the Federal Reserve’s FOMC decision. The rebound follows recent weakness that pushed BTC below $80,000, with uncertainty surrounding interest rates putting pressure on digital assets.
Stocks have also recovered across major markets. The Nasdaq Composite advanced 1.18%, and the S&P 500 added 0.60% at Tuesday’s close. In Asia, South Korea’s KOSPI jumped 6.63%, climbing back above 6,000 points as optimism about semiconductor demand boosted investor sentiment.
Despite the improvement in risk appetite, the upcoming Fed announcement remains a major source of uncertainty. Markets largely expect policymakers to keep rates unchanged, but persistent inflation and rising Treasury yields have kept the prospect of another rate increase in focus. Bitcoin’s reaction may depend heavily on the Fed’s comments about its future policy direction.
Bitcoin Rebounds as Global Stock Markets Recover
Bitcoin’s latest gains coincide with renewed buying in technology stocks. The Nasdaq Composite ended Tuesday at 26,477.81, while the S&P 500 closed at 7,722.60. Both benchmarks moved higher as investors returned to technology companies, particularly those benefiting from artificial intelligence demand.
South Korea’s equity market recorded a stronger advance. The KOSPI gained 6.63% to finish at 6,012.44, supported by record quarterly earnings from SK Hynix and its shareholder-return initiatives. The move also reflected growing optimism about the outlook for AI-related semiconductor sales.
A sustained recovery in global equities could provide Bitcoin with additional support as investors increase their appetite for risk. However, BTC has yet to break above $82,000, a level that could help confirm a stronger short-term recovery.

Fed Rate-Hike Risks Remain Ahead of the FOMC Decision
The Federal Reserve’s announcement is likely to remain the main driver of Bitcoin’s near-term price action. Although traders overwhelmingly expect rates to remain unchanged, the possibility of further tightening has not been completely ruled out.
Polymarket places the odds of a rate hold at 95%, compared with approximately 4% for a 25-basis-point increase. CME FedWatch data similarly show a 91% probability that the central bank will maintain its current policy.
Attention is also turning to Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh and any clues he provides about the December meeting. Annual inflation reached 3.7% in September, while energy-price pressures associated with the Iran war have added complications to the inflation outlook.
A decision to hold rates would not automatically guarantee a Bitcoin rally. If the Fed adopts a hawkish stance and signals that borrowing costs could remain elevated or rise again, Treasury yields and the dollar could strengthen. That environment could discourage investment in speculative assets and place renewed pressure on BTC.
By contrast, a softer policy outlook could help extend Bitcoin’s recovery. Even without a rate cut, investors might respond positively if the Fed indicates that additional tightening is less likely.
Bitcoin Price Outlook: Is $82,000 the Next Key Test?
Bitcoin now needs to turn its recovery above $80,000 into sustained upward momentum. The $82,000 mark remains an important resistance area that could determine whether buyers can push the market higher.
If BTC establishes a firm position above $82,000, the next potential target would be around $84,000. Failure to break through resistance, however, could bring another decline toward the $80,000 support zone.
The Fed’s decision could trigger significant short-term volatility, but its effect on Bitcoin’s medium-term trend may be less predictable. Financial markets often price in widely anticipated decisions before they are announced, making unexpected policy signals and changes in forward guidance particularly influential.
If policymakers leave interest rates unchanged as expected, Bitcoin could experience sharp intraday movements without developing a sustained upward or downward trend.
Previous market reactions, as illustrated in the chart above, also show that Bitcoin does not consistently move in one direction following FOMC meetings. The cryptocurrency has fallen after some rate holds before later recovering, while other meetings have been followed by gains despite unchanged rates or tighter policy.
