Bitcoin extended its losing streak to four consecutive days, briefly slipping beneath $81,000 before recovering. The broader cryptocurrency market also weakened, with total market capitalization falling below $2.8 trillion to its lowest point in a month. Investors are now assessing whether Bitcoin can withstand fluctuating spot ETF flows, heavy liquidations, and mounting pressure from unfavorable economic conditions.
The $80,000 level has emerged as a major benchmark for Bitcoin, representing both a psychological support point and a critical boundary for its recent upward trend. While BTC has not confirmed a breakdown below this threshold, continued selling pressure has increased the importance of this level. Spot Bitcoin ETF activity is another factor to monitor, although daily inflows and outflows do not establish a guaranteed price floor.
Demand for spot Bitcoin ETFs has weakened in recent sessions. After losing momentum, fund flows shifted toward net outflows over four consecutive trading days, removing an important source of buying support that had previously benefited the market.
Macroeconomic developments are adding to the pressure. Rising U.S. Treasury yields, continued dollar strength, and growing caution among investors are weighing on risk-sensitive assets. These conditions can reduce appetite for Bitcoin as investors reconsider their exposure to volatile investments, even without a major cryptocurrency-specific catalyst.
The derivatives market has further intensified the downturn. More than 180,000 traders were liquidated within 24 hours, taking total crypto liquidations above $1 billion. Approximately $940 million of the liquidated positions were longs.
The forced closure of leveraged bullish positions as prices declined contributed to the downward momentum. These figures also illustrate how derivatives liquidations can accelerate a sell-off independently of direct selling in spot markets.
Bitcoin Price Analysis: Can BTC Defend $80,000?
Bitcoin recently traded below $82,000 before recovering above that level. However, the struggle to maintain higher prices suggests that its bullish momentum is weakening. The next major test lies at $80,000, where a decisive break could signal a more substantial deterioration in the market structure.
A confirmed drop below $80,000 would put the higher-low pattern that has held since July at risk. Further declines could bring lower support zones into focus, although these levels represent potential areas of price stabilization rather than assured targets.
The weakness has extended beyond Bitcoin. Major cryptocurrencies lost between 3% and 5% over 24 hours, with Ethereum trading around $2,400, BNB near $720, and XRP at approximately $1.40. These widespread losses suggest a broader retreat from crypto exposure rather than an isolated decline in BTC.
A sustained move above $82,000, supported by an improvement in ETF flows, could ease near-term concerns. However, Bitcoin’s temporary rebound alone does not confirm that the market has stabilized or that institutional demand has returned.
The bearish outlook would become more pronounced if Bitcoin falls decisively below $80,000 while ETF outflows persist, long liquidations continue, Treasury yields increase, and the U.S. dollar strengthens further. Under these circumstances, the $75,000 region could become a potential area of interest for traders monitoring downside risk.
For now, $80,000 remains a critical support level rather than a confirmed breakdown point. Bitcoin’s ability to maintain prices above $82,000 and a potential slowdown in selling will be important signals to watch. If these conditions fail to materialize, continued fund outflows and leveraged selling could expose BTC to another test of its key support.
