A change in accounting standards could become an overlooked driver for Bitcoin’s next major move. Google Gemini AI estimates that the development could help Bitcoin reach between $85,000 and $105,000 by the end of 2026, with $92,000 as its base-case target and $95,000 as the most likely price.
Corporate accumulation is a major component of Gemini’s outlook. The AI model expects companies to continue purchasing Bitcoin for their treasuries, steadily reducing the available circulating supply.
FASB’s fair-value accounting rules could make those purchases more attractive. By removing the previous impairment treatment, the updated rules reduce the accounting burden companies faced when Bitcoin prices declined.
This could give businesses greater freedom to hold Bitcoin on their balance sheets without having to recognize paper losses as impairment charges.
The Lightning Network is another factor supporting Bitcoin’s longer-term utility. Increased transaction activity on the network could expand Bitcoin’s use beyond simply serving as a long-term store of value.
However, the bearish scenario centers on a key technical level. A decisive drop below $55,000, particularly during a period of tighter macroeconomic conditions, could weaken Gemini’s bullish thesis.
Bitcoin could then fall toward $48,000. Gemini considers $55,000 a crucial threshold separating the bullish and bearish scenarios.
A price above that level would preserve the broader recovery setup, while a sustained break below it could signal a significant shift in market direction.
Bitcoin’s Road to $95,000 Faces Key Technical Hurdles
Bitcoin remains well below its previous record high. BTC reached nearly $126,000 last October before beginning a prolonged decline.
The cryptocurrency fell from approximately $116,000 to around $82,000 in November. Although a December rebound pushed Bitcoin back toward $98,000, the recovery failed to hold.
A deeper sell-off followed in February, sending BTC down to roughly $59,000. The market subsequently recovered, with Bitcoin climbing toward $83,000 by May.
The rebound was short-lived, however, as June brought another decline toward $58,000. Bitcoin recovered into the mid-$60,000 range in July but has since struggled to build further momentum.
Bitcoin closed at $62,964, representing a 0.72% daily decline, or $454. The session traded between $62,879 and $63,553.
On the downside, Bitcoin has support near $62,000, followed by $58,000 and the more important $55,000 level. Resistance is positioned around $66,000, $70,000 and $76,000.
The RSI is currently at 42.74, below its 48.99 signal line. The gap of more than six points indicates that momentum has weakened following the July recovery.
Both indicators remain below the 50 midpoint, giving sellers the advantage in the near term.
Gemini’s $92,000 base case would require Bitcoin to rise about 46% from its current price. For that scenario to remain viable, BTC needs to defend the $58,000 support zone.
Corporate Bitcoin Demand vs. Multi-Chain Infrastructure
Reaching $95,000 would require Bitcoin to attract substantial corporate buying. As the asset’s market size grows, increasingly larger amounts of capital are needed to create significant upward price movements.
LiquidChain takes a different approach.
The project is developing an execution layer connecting Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana, with the goal of addressing fragmented liquidity and applications across different blockchain networks. Its infrastructure is designed to reduce the need for repeated bridging, additional fees and separate deployments by enabling applications to operate across all three ecosystems.
LiquidChain’s presale price stands at $0.01454, with more than $938,000 raised so far. Because of its comparatively small scale, the project would not require the enormous capital inflows needed to move an asset such as Bitcoin substantially.
That creates a potential asymmetry: LiquidChain is targeting a growing multi-chain infrastructure challenge while its relatively small market size means early capital could have a more pronounced effect on its valuation.
