Founded in June 2013, Coinplug is a South Korea-based Bitcoin company offering a range of services, including a Bitcoin exchange, digital wallet, okBitcard (Bitcoin gift card), two-way ATMs, and a payment processor. The company focuses on serving domestic and broader Asian markets.
Coinplug’s notable investors include SBI Asset Management and Tim Draper. The company has also collaborated with KB Kookmin, one of South Korea’s largest banks, on blockchain-based projects such as remittances and personal identification systems.
As of August 2018, Coinplug is recognized as the world’s second-largest and South Korea’s leading blockchain patent holder, with 203 patents, comprising 121 domestic and 82 international patents.
