Gemini Expands into Australia with AUSTRAC Registration
Cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, founded by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, has officially launched operations in Australia following its registration with AUSTRAC, the nation’s financial intelligence and anti-money laundering regulator.
The exchange’s Australian entity, Gemini Intergalactic Australia Pty Ltd, is now authorized to provide crypto trading services, allowing Australians to buy and sell cryptocurrencies using the AUD. According to Gemini’s Global State of Crypto Report 2025, Australia’s crypto adoption rate has reached 22%, rivaling that of the United States.
Saad Ahmed, Gemini’s Head of APAC, stated, “With Australia’s rapidly growing digital asset market, we are doubling down on our Asia-Pacific growth strategy.”
James Logan has been appointed Head of Australia to oversee operations. Logan brings experience from his prior roles at Luno and Bitget and will focus on creating a secure, compliant platform for both retail and institutional clients.
