You don’t have to be a major investor to secure a chance at dinner with former President Donald Trump at his exclusive members-only club in Washington, D.C.
The team behind the Trump memecoin clarified on Thursday that the top 220 holders on its leaderboard, with the smallest wallet holding $420 worth of TRUMP tokens, are eligible to win the coveted dinner, dispelling rumors that a six-figure token investment was required.
“We want to clear up some confusion that’s been circulating on X and in the media,” the team wrote on its official X account. “You don’t need $300K+ to participate (you don’t); and we’re not unlocking tokens for this competition (we’re not).”
The TRUMP token surged 70% this week, trading around $12 as of Thursday, largely driven by buzz surrounding the “Dinner with Trump” event, according to CoinDesk’s earlier reports.
Rumors had spread on X claiming that only holders with more than $300,000 in tokens could enter. Other speculations suggested that participants had to be ranked in the top 220 wallets on a blockchain explorer. However, the team shot down both claims, emphasizing that participants must register through the official leaderboard, and only time-weighted holdings during the competition would count.
As of now, the top wallet holder on the leaderboard, using the pseudonym “Sun,” boasts more than 1.1 million TRUMP tokens, valued at nearly $14 million. The 220th spot, which qualifies for the competition, is held by “HAR,” with just 35.3 TRUMP tokens, worth approximately $420.
Twenty-five wallets are classified as VIPs on the leaderboard, with the cutoff holder holding more than $400,000 worth of TRUMP.
The team also addressed concerns regarding token unlocks impacting the competition. They confirmed that the cliff unlock and subsequent daily unlocks would remain inaccessible for 90 days, lasting well beyond the competition’s duration.
“We want to reiterate that the tokens from the initial cliff unlock and the following three months of daily unlocks will remain locked, each for an additional 90 days,” the team reassured.
