MetaMask Unveils $30M Rewards Program Linked to Upcoming Token
MetaMask confirmed plans for a major onchain rewards initiative this weekend, allocating over $30 million in Linea tokens for its first season. The program aims to boost engagement on ConsenSys’ Layer-2 network, Linea, while integrating the wallet’s mUSD stablecoin.
Described as “one of the largest onchain rewards programs ever built,” MetaMask emphasized the program is intended to reward users regularly rather than serve as a farming scheme. Rewards will include referral bonuses, mUSD incentives, exclusive partner perks, and early access to the long-awaited MetaMask token. Early users will receive special benefits, with the team stating, “OGs will not be ignored.”
Linea, launched in September alongside a 9.4 billion token airdrop, now gains momentum through MetaMask Rewards, using the wallet’s reach to increase network activity. MetaMask’s mUSD stablecoin, issued by Stripe-owned Bridge, currently has a circulating supply near $88 million, providing layered incentives across wallet, stablecoin, and Layer-2 infrastructure.
The company has yet to confirm whether certain jurisdictions will be excluded or if anti-Sybil measures will be enforced, leaving questions about preventing misuse of the program.
