Year-End Altcoin Season on the Horizon? TRUMP, XRP, and SOL Options Indicate Potential, Says PowerTrade

Crypto options platform PowerTrade says traders are positioning for a potential year-end rally in altcoins, with SOL, XRP, TRUMP, HYPE, and LINK at the forefront.

According to the platform, SOL, XRP, and TRUMP are drawing the heaviest call option activity for December expirations. “Traders are betting on altcoin season extending into year-end, with strong upside interest in AEVO, AR, DOGE, ENA, HYPE, LINK, MOG, PAXG, SOL, TIA, TRUMP, and ZRO,” said Bernd Sischka, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer at PowerTrade.

PowerTrade reported over $1 billion in trading volume for August, with 68% of trades in call options, signaling broad bullish sentiment. Solana saw notable call buying at strike prices above current levels, reflecting expectations of a fourth-quarter breakout. XRP recorded large December call trades, while TRUMP options showed massive call spreads, pointing to anticipated volatility.

Meme coins like DOGE and PEPE attracted mainly retail traders, whereas altcoins like WIF experienced rising open interest, suggesting institutional accumulation. PowerTrade emphasized that institutions are increasingly active, executing block trades on Bitcoin, Ether, and altcoins, blending hedging with speculative positions.

While smaller than Deribit, PowerTrade distinguishes itself by offering options on lesser-known altcoins, allowing traders to hedge and capitalize on price movements often unavailable on larger platforms.
