TON Soars 20% as Telegram’s Pavel Durov Recovers Passport from French Authorities
The price of TON skyrocketed over 20% in the past 24 hours, pushing it above $3.45 and lifting its market capitalization to $8.14 billion, following the return of Telegram founder Pavel Durov’s passport by French authorities.
The resolution of the issue restores Durov’s ability to travel freely, bringing an end to a situation that had raised concerns among privacy advocates and free speech supporters. Durov, co-founder of the widely used messaging platform Telegram—boasting nearly a billion users—has consistently championed privacy rights and secure digital communication.
The TON Foundation, which oversees the Telegram Open Network (TON), acknowledged the moment on social media. “As a decentralized community, we have stood firmly with Pavel, backing his relentless commitment to protecting online privacy and free expression.”
In addition to the positive news surrounding Durov, TON has seen momentum from recent upgrades to the Telegram Wallet app. The latest enhancements include support for multiple assets, a new yield program, and a refined user interface, further fueling interest in the ecosystem.
