Metaplanet Inc. (3350) has added 1,009 Bitcoin (BTC) worth about $112 million to its reserves, lifting total holdings to 20,000 BTC. The move pushes the Tokyo-based company past Riot Platforms (RIOT), giving it the sixth-largest corporate Bitcoin treasury worldwide.
According to a Monday filing, Metaplanet has spent 302.3 billion yen on Bitcoin to date, at an average purchase price of 15.1 million yen per BTC. The company has leaned heavily into positioning Bitcoin as a reserve asset, a strategy that has made it Asia’s leading publicly listed Bitcoin adopter.
From July 1 through September 1, Metaplanet’s holdings delivered a 30.7% BTC yield, while its multiple to net asset value (mNAV) remains just under 2.
Despite the milestone, investors reacted cautiously. Shares of Metaplanet slid 5.5% on Monday, closing at 831 yen.
