Telegram’s U.S. TON Wallet Rollout Lifts Toncoin as Crypto Features Go Live In-App
Toncoin (TON) rallied 3% to $3.41 on Monday after Telegram began introducing its self-custodial TON Wallet to 87 million U.S. users, marking a major milestone in mainstream crypto adoption.
The wallet, built on The Open Network (TON) and developed by The Open Platform (TOP), enables users to send, receive, stake, and swap cryptocurrencies natively within the Telegram app—eliminating the need for external apps, extensions, or seed phrases.
According to CNBC, this is the first time a self-custodial crypto wallet has been embedded directly into a messaging app for U.S. consumers. The update is seen as a major leap forward in simplifying crypto access.
TOP CEO Andrew Rogozov said Telegram’s growing crypto-native user base and improving U.S. regulatory clarity made this the right moment for expansion. “We started considering the U.S. as a more interesting opportunity,” he noted.
To ease onboarding, the wallet features a split-key recovery model. Instead of requiring users to store seed phrases, the system uses a two-part backup—one tied to the Telegram account and the other to the user’s email—streamlining wallet security and usability.
Additional features include staking, MoonPay-powered zero-fee crypto purchases, debit card integration for fiat on- and off-ramps, and access to decentralized apps through Telegram’s Mini Apps platform, creating a full Web3 ecosystem inside the messaging app.
As of publication, Toncoin trades at $3.4121—up 12.2% over the past week and 25.6% over the last month—driven by surging platform engagement and bullish sentiment.
