Metaplanet Hits 5,000 BTC Milestone, Achieves 121.1% YTD BTC Yield in 2025
Japanese hotel operator Metaplanet (3350) has reached a significant milestone in its bitcoin (BTC) strategy, now holding 5,000 BTC as part of its treasury management. The company’s bitcoin holdings are valued at approximately $428.1 million, with an average acquisition price of $85,621 per coin.
Continuing its commitment to bitcoin as a reserve asset, Metaplanet made a recent purchase of 145 BTC, acquiring them at an average price of around $93,327 per coin, for a total investment of approximately $13.6 million.
As a result of its ongoing accumulation strategy, Metaplanet has achieved a remarkable year-to-date (YTD) BTC Yield of 121.1% in 2025. This yield represents the effective increase in bitcoin per share held by the company, providing insight into its strong performance in terms of treasury management.
A proprietary metric known as BTC Yield tracks the company’s performance in bitcoin acquisition, isolating gains from the asset without accounting for dilution from newly issued shares. In Q1 2025, Metaplanet posted an impressive yield of 95.6%.
Despite the achievement, Metaplanet’s shares were trading 5% lower at the time of writing, reflecting market volatility.
Metaplanet’s focused approach on expanding its bitcoin treasury continues to position it as a forward-thinking player in the intersection of hospitality and digital assets.
