X is giving U.S. users a faster way to turn financial conversations on the platform into crypto and stock trades through a new integration with several trading services.
The feature allows users to tap cashtags such as $BTC and $TSLA to access live prices, charts and related posts. A “Trade” button then directs them to partner platforms, including Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Gemini, Kraken and Coinbase, where they can log in or create an account and execute the transaction.
While X provides the connection, it does not handle the trades itself. The actual purchase or sale is completed on the partner exchange or brokerage platform, keeping X outside the role of a broker.
Cashtags have long been used on X to track discussions around financial assets. Earlier this year, the company expanded the feature by adding real-time market prices and charts.
The addition of trading links takes X another step toward Musk’s broader vision of making the platform a destination for financial services.
“Cashtags close the gap between a ticker on the timeline and the market itself,” said Mridul Singhai, X’s product engineering lead.
The development also builds on X’s large global audience and its established influence within the crypto sector. The platform has millions of users worldwide, with daily engagement estimated at about 132 million on mobile devices and more than 245 million across all devices.
For the crypto industry, X has become an important meeting point where posts from prominent traders, projects and market figures can quickly influence sentiment and shift liquidity across exchanges.
That role, sometimes described as a digital “town square,” sets X apart from services such as Discord and Telegram, where discussions are often divided among private communities and channels.
By connecting market conversations directly to trading platforms, X could make the transition from discovering an asset to accessing a marketplace considerably more seamless.
