Bitcoin’s Coinbase Premium Is Back. Is the Rally About to Accelerate?

Bitcoin’s Coinbase Premium has moved back into positive territory for the first time since May, as BTC attempts to hold above the psychologically important $80,000 mark.

The shift means Bitcoin is currently fetching a higher price on Coinbase than on Binance, indicating that buying pressure on the U.S.-based exchange has strengthened relative to the global trading platform.

According to CoinGlass, the price difference between the two exchanges, tracked through the Coinbase Premium indicator, turned positive on Friday. It was the first positive reading since May.

The change comes after Bitcoin’s rapid climb from approximately $63,000 to above $80,000 and a renewed wave of demand for U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs. Coinbase serves as the custodian for many of these investment products.

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs, led by BlackRock’s IBIT, have attracted about $3.51 billion in net inflows, their strongest performance since October 2025, according to SoSoValue.

The Coinbase Premium is closely watched because it can offer insight into U.S. investor demand. When the indicator remains positive for an extended period, it suggests buyers on Coinbase are willing to pay more than traders on Binance, a pattern that has frequently accompanied Bitcoin bull markets.

The latest positive reading could therefore become more significant if it continues. For Bitcoin to extend its advance, BTC still needs to overcome several technical hurdles, including its 50-week simple moving average near $81,000.

Analysts consider the $81,000 area a crucial resistance zone. A sustained breakout above that level could strengthen the bullish outlook, while failure to clear it could leave Bitcoin vulnerable to another period of consolidation.
