Jane Street Takes Significant Stake in XRP ETF

  • Jane Street Group disclosed more than 1.2 million shares of Bitwise’s XRP ETF at the end of June, compared with just 20,605 shares three months earlier. The increase of roughly 60 times was reported in the firm’s second-quarter Form 13F filing with the SEC.
  • The filing highlights Jane Street’s sizable presence in the growing XRP ETF market. Still, the position does not necessarily indicate a long-term bullish view on XRP, as Jane Street is a major market maker that frequently buys and sells ETFs and options as part of its trading activities.
  • Jane Street’s latest 13F reflects its reportable holdings as of June 30, 2026. The firm listed more than 1.2 million shares of Bitwise’s XRP ETF, sharply above its first-quarter position of 20,605 shares.
  • Beyond Bitwise, Jane Street reported holdings tied to XRP ETFs from Franklin Templeton, Grayscale, Canary Capital and 21Shares. The disclosures show that the firm has exposure across several XRP investment products.
  • Bitwise’s fund is distinct because it provides direct exposure to spot XRP. The ETF launched in November, following Canary Capital’s launch a few weeks earlier, and has since emerged as the largest fund among the XRP ETFs referenced in the filings.
  • The 13F only provides a snapshot of Jane Street’s reportable securities holdings at the June 30 reporting date. It does not indicate whether the firm intends to maintain the position, nor does it reveal how long the shares were held.
  • Despite that limitation, the size of Jane Street’s disclosed position makes the firm one of the most significant institutional participants in the XRP ETF market among those included in the filings.
  • Morgan Stanley also disclosed exposure to three XRP-related ETFs during the second quarter. Its holdings included 6,715 shares of Franklin Templeton’s XRP ETF, 255 shares of REX-Osprey’s product and 567 shares of Bitwise’s fund. While relatively small compared with Morgan Stanley’s overall portfolio, the positions add to evidence of institutional participation in regulated XRP products.
  • Other filings showed Wolverine Asset Management holding nearly 200,000 shares of Bitwise’s XRP ETF, while Gallacher Capital Management reported 86,744 shares of the 21Shares XRP ETF. Main Street Group disclosed 5,261 XRP-related shares, and National Bank of Canada reported 3,848 shares.
