Hsiao-Wei Wang Resigns as Ethereum Foundation Co-Executive Director

Hsiao-Wei Wang has stepped down as co-executive director of the Ethereum Foundation (EF), becoming the latest senior figure to exit the organization following the departure of fellow co-executive director Tomasz Stańczak.

In a post on X on Thursday, Wang announced that her resignation would take effect immediately. She said the decision came after a recent sabbatical, which gave her the opportunity to reassess her priorities and consider her future direction.

According to Wang, the time away from her responsibilities helped her realize that stepping down was the right choice at this stage of her career.

Her departure comes months after Stańczak revealed plans to leave his position after overseeing a leadership transition at the Switzerland-based nonprofit that supports Ethereum’s ecosystem and development.

During Wang’s leave, Ethereum Foundation board member Bastian Aue assisted in managing the leadership transition. Following the exits of both co-executive directors, Aue has assumed a more prominent role in guiding the organization.

Wang’s resignation adds to a growing list of high-profile departures from the Ethereum Foundation. Over the past five months, at least eight senior members have left the organization, sparking community discussions about the foundation’s governance, strategic focus, and future direction as competition among blockchain networks intensifies.

In her farewell message, Wang emphasized that Ethereum’s mission extends beyond any single individual or institution, highlighting the collective efforts of the contributors who have helped shape the network’s growth and success.
