Market Reacts to SEC Closing Probe, ONDO Token Sees Price Uptick

Ondo Finance’s native token surged Monday after the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) closed a confidential investigation into the platform, clearing a regulatory hurdle for tokenized real-world assets (RWA).

The probe, launched in 2024 under former SEC Chairman Gary Gensler, focused on whether Ondo’s tokenization of certain assets complied with federal securities laws and whether the ONDO token should be classified as a security. The investigation concluded without any charges, the company confirmed on X.

“With the investigation now closed, the path is clear for Ondo and the tokenization of assets,” an Ondo spokesperson said.

The closure reflects broader easing of regulatory pressure on crypto platforms under current SEC leadership. Chairman Paul Atkins has promoted tokenization as a key innovation for capital markets, telling FOX Business that tokenized assets could transform the financial system over the next few years by improving liquidity, transparency, and market access.
